Budget Guide Singapore: What to See and Do on a week-long vacation to Singapore
Universal Studios tops the list of best places in Singapore. It is the perfect destination to visit your very first day in Singapore. Universal studios is always abuzz with activities whether it is seeing your favourite disney characters live, taking a ride on the roller coasters or witnessing a random dance breakout. You can pick up souvenirs for your little cousins or your animation crazy friends.
It is a store that fascinates me every time I visit it. You must keep a whole day for IKEA and do not miss the IKEA cafe. A must try are the swedish meat balls. It is one of the best places to buy souvenirs from for your family and friends as the packaging is compact and often non-breakable. The stuff can be rearranged at home.
And while you’re there and tired of all that shopping, just walk into their cafeteria and order some yummy icecreams, cakes or meats. My favourite is the Swedish Meatball. Try it ! <Ma Kasam main apna naam badal doonga(i) agar pasand na aaya !>
Visit the Sentosa Island for some adventure and a whole day of fun.
SEA Aquarium & Dolphin Park
Do not miss S.E.A. Aquarium and Dolphin Park.
Gardens by the Bay
Gardens by the Bay is a new attraction Singapore and you would love it if you like flowers and nature.
So these were places that I enjoyed on a low budget. If you have some more cash to spend, I’d suggest you spend it on food and having fun !
Visit the esplanade for great theatre, dance and music shows. The tickets are often expensive, so choose well. You can also check up on their free shows.
From the Esplanade, walk up to the Merlion in the evening and try the Ice Cream sandwich, a popular street food in Singapore.
Marina Bay Sand Resort
If you have the budget, book a night at the Marina Bay Sand Resort and chill out on the top of the ship in their unique swimming pool.
Visit Orchard road for shopping.
Visit Chinatown for bargain shopping and souvenirs, 3 for S$10 stores.
If you’re feeling nostalgic about India, visit Little India and buy the Indian maggi from Mustafa Store. Cook it at home or the hotel where you are staying and think about the days back at home.
All the honeymooners and late bloomers need to visit the ‘I Love Sex‘ store for naughty naughty stuff on Bugis Street famous for all kinds of shopping, otherwise as well.
Visit Clarke Quay located next to the Singapore river for a peek into the Singaporean Nightlife. You can find a huge variety of restaurants and pubs serving various kinds of cuisines and watch Belly dancers, listen to live music or just relax.
When I was there, I witnessed the Oktoberfest and the all the raw energy that comes with it. You should also try the Reverse Bungee. Just walk ahead of ‘Hooters’, and you’ll find the pavilion. iI tries it and it was so scary but worth the awesomeness!

Where to eat in Singapore:
Local Singapore Food Courts
Eat in the food courts of various malls as the food is cheaper and you get a whole lot of variety here. Try food that you’ve never tried before. Crispy Duck and Chilli Crab top my list. When having prawns, let the guy know that you want them without the shell, they do not understand english so make sure you break up the words and back it up with hand gestures.
What to drink in Singapore:
Try the ‘Singapore Sling’, Singapore’s famous cocktail. Seasoned drinkers might find it mild, but what the heck!
