Paragliding in Maharashtra
Paragliding in Maharashtra, amidst the Sahyadri ranges and the many water bodies, is absolutely breathtaking. The best thing about choosing to do paragliding in Maharashtra is that the paragliding sites are easily accessible from the bigger cities of Mumbai and Pune. You do not have to free up a whole day in order to get 10 minutes of adrenaline rush (and some instagrammable pictures ) !

Best Places for Paragliding in Maharshtra
Paragliding in Kamshet
Kamshet is the top places in Maharashtra to go paragliding at. There are quite a few licensed instructors and companies that will take you for a tandem glide 10-15 minutes depending on the winds. You can also do paragliding solo with instructions. There are two sites in Kamshet which are operational depending on the season, wind direction and speed.
We tried paragliding at shelar site paragliding. Details on my experience and Kamshet paragliding sites and operators in the next post.
Paragliding at Lonavala
Cradled by the western ghats, Lonavala is the perfect hill station for paragliding. Take a flight from Tiger’s Leap to get a bird’s eye view of Lonavala lake, Duke’s nose, Valvan Dam and many more enthralling points.
Paragliding at Pawna / Pavana
You can do paragliding during season March – September at Pawna Lake. While, you’re at it, we suggest take out a whole day and camp out at the beautiful Pawna Lake.
Paragliding in Mahabaleshwar / Panchgani
Panchgani is a popular hill station just short of Mahabaleshwar. You can try Paragliding here, from the Horizon point. The view of sanctuary town and scenic landscape of panchgani are perfect.
Paragliding in Matheran
Matheran, a pleasant, untainted slope station at an elevation of 800 meters is shrouded in green. Matheran stays calm and unpolluted given the fact that no vehicles are permitted inside the town. It is a lovely place to go for a Paragliding experience.
Paragliding at Purandar
This site is situated around Purandar fort. It is an interesting and off-the-beaten track for paragliding. Not many people visit this fort as it is quite strict on timing. Paragliding cost will also be significantly low here but with similarly beautiful or better views.
I plan to visit Purandar fort soon, will update the blog with details.
All the above points are great for your paragliding experience whether you’re located in Mumbai or Pune. Purandar is closer to Punekars and Matheran to Mumbaikars. All other spots can easily accessible from both cities.
