Kumarakom or Alleppey ?
Most people when planning their Kerala trip are confused about choosing between the two.
The simple answer is this: Choose an Alleppey backwaters vacation if you want to stay in the houseboat overnight. Choose a Kumarakom houseboat vacation if you want to cruise in the backwaters through the day and experience the local village life.
It is also more enjoyable to watch the sunset when the boat is anchored in the Kumarakom backwaters (eastern side of the lake) as compared to Alleppey on the western side.
Nearest railway station: Kottayam, about 13 km from Kumarakon
