1. Living Roots Bridge, Meghalaya

There is nothing like it that you have ever seen before. Trees forming aerial bridges with their roots is straight out of a fiction novel or fantasy movie. But believe us, there are these living root bridges in Meghalaya. Some are strong enough to carry the weight of more than 50 people!

2. Valley of Flowers, Uttarakhand

You have to see it to believe it! This valley is full of life with beautiful flowers spread as carpets and some endangered species living in it. A trek to this place is absolutely rewarding. If you are a nature lover, then never miss a chance to visit this place.

3. Thar Desert, Rajasthan

The pride of the state of Rajasthan, Thar Desert is a beautiful place to visit in India. You will be amazed to see how big the desert really is. It stretches in every direction and if lost, you can consider yourself gone forever! The best place to experience the Thar is in Jaisalmer. You can camp under the night sky, ride a camel and experience the colourful folk dances and music.

4. Rann of Kutch, Gujarat

This one of a kind desert in India is where you can find salt in the place of sand, under your feet. The place is under water during the rainy season and becomes barren during summers. You can have a wonderful sight of horizon from this place.

One of the oldest cities in India and a holy land for Hindus, Varanasi is a land with old charms and traditions. Temples, ancient architecture and the colors of the city will captivate you for real. The aarti on Dashashwamedh Ghat in the evenings in an experience you cannot miss. Also take a boat ride through the various ghats at dusk or dawn to watch the beautiful sunrise or sunset.

7. Roopkund Lake, Uttrakhand

This mystery lake is at a very high altitude in Uttarakhand. There have been findings of human skeletons every summer when ice melts and a small lake forms.

A place of worship for the Sikhs, Golden Temple is a wonderful place to visit in North India. All religions are accepted here and you can even get free food (langar) if you visit the place. I love the langar for its simplicity and the humbling experience.

10. Nubra Valley, Ladakh

This cold desert is a combination of steep slopes, fertile villages and beautiful river beds. A permit is required to enter the place. However, once you enter it you will be enchanted by its beauty. Be prepared with your DSLR, you will need to shoot till you drop here!
